've been to Sapphire many times in the year and a half since I moved to Laurel. I will admit that I usually have the Indian food selections, but I've heard from friends that the Thai dishes are also delicious. The staff is always friendly and attentive. They have excellent buffet if you are looking to try a little bit of everything. Their off-the-menu selections are also delicious. I would highly recommend this place. It is my favorite restaurant here.
I have been a faithful customer for over five years! It's rare for a place to offer three different cuisines, let alone all of them be top notch. They offer American, Indian, AND Thai. I've never had a bad meal, which to me says A LOT, because I tend to be a bit on the picky side. Recently I dined in the restaurant side and noticed they re-painted the walls, and added chandeliers, very tasteful! The bar side was also freshly painted, burgundy and gold, I was told it was meant to represent Redskin colors, cute idea! I was very impressed. I would highly recommend Sapphire restaurant or bar to anyone who enjoys a friendly atmosphere and authentic cuisine!
Been twice and can't wait to go back.We love Thai and especially love Indian, together- AMAZING!The Indian however is their speciality. Everything is fresh and so tasteful! Each dish different than the next. The Lamb Pasanda is amazing, soft lamb chunks Ina. Creamy sauce, I tried the Lamb Masala while my partner tried the Thai fried rice and we were both, yet again impressed. Thr Soring rolls off the Thai menu are perfectly cooked. The Bullet Naan is amazingggg (never knew so many options for Naan!!) the Chaat was also delicious, I've gone to a few Indian places and ordered Chaat and been disappointed, Sapphire does NOT disappoint!!
I had the samosa and then the mango chicken Ooooo my soo yuummie I could have licked the bowl but I was afraid my pants would give out! LOL they are very attentive and the food is wonderful they even have buffet during the week till 4and on the weekends all day sooo good you have to try!
How wonderful it is to find SOUTH Indian food, well made. The sambar was great -- tangy and spicy. The dosa was huge, beautifully golden and crisp on the outside. For those used to heavy sauces and stews of North India, the Southern options are worth trying here. For example: lentil doughnuts with spicy sauce; or idlies, steamed "cakes" of rice and lentil flour, doused in coconut chutney or cilantro-mint chutney. Sambar is a spicy lentil soup with vegetables. The dosai are large "crepes" of rice and urad dal flour -- usually with a spicy potato filling. For the quality, prices very reasonable (not the cheap buffet model). As someone fond of South Indian food, I was in heaven.
Best Indian food I've eaten in Laurel. Great selection of entrees on the lunch buffet, and everything was hot and tasty.
This place is very nice and the food is wonderful! We were looking for an Indian buffet and almost didn't come because it said 'sports bar' and we wanted a quiet place for dinner. I'm so glad we came anyway. The sports bar is next door and not a part of the restaurant. The place was quiet, clean and we had impeccable service. The food (especially the Tikka Massala) was really very good. They didn't have Palak Paneer on the buffet and when we inquired about if they ever had it on the buffet, they said that they sometimes do but would bring us some right out. It was great too, and talk about amazing service! Thank you Saphire, for a very nice evening.
We go for the lunch buffet on weekdays. Plenty of vegetarian dishes. They very often have palak paneer, which makes me happy. Their massaman curry is just the right blend of sweet and spicy. Clientele on weekdays for lunch tend to be gov/business types on group lunches. Service is great- they never let your drinks become empty. Funny little location. It's attached to a sports bar (same owner?) and sometimes staff go between the restaurant and the bar.
Great lunch buffet! And on the Saturday and Sunday they have the buffet all day. The staff are very nice. A good variety of food. I especially like the Vege Korma. Yummy!!
Went there for dinner the other night with my husband for dinner. We both had vegetarian dishes. Both were fantastic. They also happen to have the best spring rolls ever! They were made fresh and must have some Thai flavorings! They were so good, we ordered 2 plates of them!
